What is Grow a Garden

A farming game about patience and good timing

Grow a Garden is a farming game you can play right here. Buy seeds, plant them, water them so they grow faster, harvest the crops, and sell them for coins. Then spend those coins on rarer seeds and more land. Each crop has a weight that sets its price, and the weather can turn a ripe crop into something worth ten, twenty, or fifty times more.

Ten crops, six rarities
Start with Carrots and work up through Strawberries, Tomatoes, Pumpkins, and Mangoes to the Divine Moon Blossom. Most crops regrow, so one good seed pays again and again.
Weather that pays
Rain speeds up growth and turns ripe crops Wet. Thunderstorms can strike them Shocked (×10), and Night makes them Moonlit. Any crop can also ripen Golden or Rainbow.
Grows while you are away
Close the tab and your plants keep growing for up to 24 hours. Come back to ripe crops ready to harvest. Your garden saves automatically, with no account.
Plays in your browser
No download, no install, no plugins. Every action is one tap on a phone or a single key on desktop, and starting over takes one confirmation.

How to play

How to play Grow a Garden

Four steps, repeated until your garden is full of rare crops: plant, water, harvest, and sell. Everything else is deciding what to grow next.

  1. 1

    Plant a seed

You start with 30 coins, three Carrot seeds, and six open plots of soil. Pick a seed from your bag and tap an empty plot to plant it. Every seed is used up when planted, so restock from the seed shop.

  2. 2

    Water while it grows

Tap a growing plant to water it: it grows at double speed for 20 seconds. The progress bar under each plant turns blue while the water lasts. Rain, thunderstorms, and the Sprinkler speed up every plant at once.

  3. 3

    Harvest ripe crops

When a crop is ripe it bounces in its plot. Tap it, or press Harvest all, to drop it into your basket. Carrots, Pumpkins, and Watermelons are used up when picked. Every other crop regrows and gives another harvest.

  4. 4

    Sell, then grow bigger

Sell your basket for coins. Each crop is priced by its weight and any mutations. Spend coins on rarer seeds from the shop, which restocks every 2½ minutes, and on new plots until all 24 are yours.

Tips to grow faster

  • Water everything, every time. A watered plant grows twice as fast, and watering is free.
  • Move from Carrots to Strawberries early. They regrow every 30 seconds, so one seed keeps paying.
  • Sell before you shop. Your basket earns nothing until it is sold, and the best seeds sell out quickly.
  • When it rains, leave ripe crops on the plant for a while to fish for Wet. During a Thunderstorm, try for Shocked (×10).
  • Buy plots steadily. Each one is a permanent extra crop slot, and early plots are cheap.
  • Big single-harvest crops like Pumpkins and Watermelons pay best when you have spare coins and want one large sale.
  • Run the Sprinkler when most plots are full of slow, valuable crops. That is when +50% saves the most time.

FAQ

Grow a Garden, answered

Straight answers about the free Grow a Garden farming game you can play online in your browser.

What is Grow a Garden?

Grow a Garden is a farming game you play in your browser. You buy seeds, plant them in plots, water them to grow faster, harvest the ripe crops, and sell them for coins. Those coins buy rarer seeds and more land. Weather can mutate ripe crops into versions worth many times more. There are ten crops, from the common Carrot to the Divine Moon Blossom.

Is Grow a Garden free to play?

Yes. growagarden.app is completely free and runs in your browser. There is nothing to buy, download, or install, and no premium currency, energy timer, or paywall. Every seed and plot is bought with coins you earn in the game.

How do you play Grow a Garden?

Pick a seed from your bag and tap an empty plot to plant it. Tap a growing plant to water it, which doubles its speed for 20 seconds. When a crop is ripe, tap it or press Harvest all to put it in your basket. Then press Sell to turn the basket into coins. Spend coins in the seed shop on better seeds and new plots, and repeat.

How often does the seed shop restock?

Every 2½ minutes. A countdown in the Shop tab shows the time until the next restock. Carrots are always in stock. Each rarer seed has its own chance of appearing, from about 80% for Strawberries down to about 2.5% for the Moon Blossom.

What is the rarest seed?

The Moon Blossom is the only Divine seed. It costs 240,000 coins, appears in roughly one restock in forty, and regrows a crop worth around 26,000 coins every three minutes. Next come the Mythical Dragon Fruit and the Legendary Mango and Watermelon.

How do mutations work?

Mutations multiply a crop’s sell price. Every crop has a 1% chance to ripen Golden (×20) and a 0.1% chance to ripen Rainbow (×50). Weather can add more mutations to crops that are ripe and still on the plant: Wet (×2) in Rain or a Thunderstorm, Shocked (×10) from lightning in a Thunderstorm, and Moonlit (×3) at Night. Golden or Rainbow sets the base multiplier, and weather mutations add on top of it.

Does weather affect how fast plants grow?

Yes. Rain and Thunderstorms make every plant grow 50% faster while they last. Clear skies and Night grow at normal speed. The current weather and its time left are shown at the top of the game.

Does my garden save?

Yes, automatically. Your coins, seeds, plots, basket, and stats are saved in your browser every few seconds and whenever you leave the page. Nothing is sent to a server and there is no account. A different device, another browser, or clearing site data will start a fresh garden.

Do plants grow while I am offline?

Yes. When you come back, your garden catches up on the time you were away, up to 24 hours. Plants grow at normal speed during that time, and watering still counts for as long as it lasted. Weather and weather mutations only happen while the game is open, so mutation hunting needs you there.

Can I play Grow a Garden on mobile?

Yes. The game is built for touch: one tap plants, waters, or harvests, and the Harvest all and Sell buttons are sized for thumbs. The whole garden, the main buttons, and your seed bag fit on one portrait phone screen.
