Grow a Garden Tips & Strategy
A practical guide to growing faster in Grow a Garden: water constantly, switch to crops that regrow, sell before every restock, leave ripe crops out in storms, and buy plots while they are cheap.
Play Grow a GardenThe core idea
Keep every plot busy, and let time do the work
Your income comes from how many plots you have, how valuable their crops are, and how fast those crops grow. An empty plot or an unsold basket earns nothing. Almost every good habit below comes back to this: fill plots with regrowing crops, speed them up when you can, and turn harvests into the next upgrade quickly.
- 01
Water every growing plant
Watering is free and doubles a plant’s growth speed for 20 seconds. Early on, while your crops take less than a minute, tapping each plot once or twice can halve the wait. Plants that need watering show a green progress bar. Watered ones show blue.
- 02
Switch from Carrots to regrowers early
A Carrot is used up when you pick it. A Strawberry costs five times more but regrows every 30 seconds for as long as it stays planted. After three or four harvests it has paid for itself, and everything after that is profit. Do the same as you move up to Blueberries, Tomatoes, and Corn.
- 03
Sell before every restock
Coins in the basket cannot buy anything. Keep an eye on the restock timer in the Shop tab, and sell a few seconds before it hits zero. That way a rare seed in the new stock never catches you short. Prices never change, so you lose nothing by selling early.
- 04
Fish for weather mutations
Rain, Thunderstorms, and Night only mutate ripe crops that are still on the plant. When a storm rolls in, stop harvesting your valuable regrowing crops. Each one rolls for Wet (×2) and, during a Thunderstorm, a small chance of Shocked (×10) every second. Harvest when the weather clears.
- 05
Buy plots while they are cheap
The first extra plot costs 60 coins, and each one after that costs about 75% more. Early plots are the best deal in the game, because each is a permanent extra slot for a crop. Later on, compare the next plot’s price with a rare seed. Usually the seed should go into a plot you already own.
- 06
Use the Sprinkler on a full, slow garden
The Sprinkler adds +50% growth to every plant for two minutes. It is wasted on a half-empty garden of Carrots. It is worth the most when every plot holds a slow, valuable crop like Pumpkin, Mango, or Dragon Fruit, and better still during Rain, when the bonuses stack.
- 07
Check back, even briefly
Your garden grows while the tab is closed, for up to 24 hours. Before you leave, fill every plot and water what you can. A quick visit an hour later harvests everything, sells it, and replants from the fresh restock.
By stage
How the plan changes as you grow
The habits above apply at every stage. What changes is which seeds are worth buying. Check the full crops table for exact prices and timings.
Early garden
Plant Carrots, water constantly, and sell often. Buy the 60- and 105-coin plots, then move straight to Strawberries. The goal is a full set of plots that regrow on their own.
Mid garden
Blueberries, Tomatoes, and Corn earn a steady income. Start watching restocks for Pumpkins and Watermelons, and leave ripe crops out whenever it rains.
Late garden
Mango, Dragon Fruit, and Moon Blossom are rare and expensive. Grab them whenever they appear, keep the Sprinkler running, and save Thunderstorms for your most valuable plants.
